Beth keeps asking why we don't recycle. And telling me I should visit thebiggreenhelp.org. When I ask why I should go to this site she shrugs her shoulders, "I don't know, the tv said to." Another favorite recitation is that "Everyday is Earth Day." Tom wants to teach them to say that recycling is a crock and my dad supposedly has some stats proving that recycling is not economically efficient. I don't think that would go over too well at school. What do you think?

Wow. It's amazing how quickly kids pick up on stuff they see on tv. Jack sings along to all the radio songs. I guess we just have to be vigilant about what we let them watch.
Yeah -- add that to the "I want that" from those stupid "As seen on TV" commercials and I am with you.
My daughter thinks if she brushes her hair long enough, like Dora, she will become a true princess.
I guess it could be worse.
LOLOLOL good little conservatives!!!
Thanks for the food storage tip and for stopping by our blog! It will be fun to get to know you more.

I hear you ... I about barfed today at Targer when I saw a "GREEN" Tonka Truck ... UGH ... I was actually going to post about that too - what are we doing to our poor kids?
ps - the kids do eat out of the muffin tins, it makes lunch fun and it helps them try new foods because it is presented in a cute way. I LOVE THEM!
Maybe I can stop feeling guilty every time I throw a plastic bottle or tin can in the garbage. I wonder what the stats are on the space recycling saves?
Okay, I have to chime in on this one even though I know I'm going to be eaten alive. There's absolutely NOTHING WRONG with recycling. American society (and world society, I would add) is incredibly wasteful and we're doing all sorts of harmful things to the environment, so I say anything that helps reduce landfills is good. Nothin' wrong with teaching kids to be good stewards of the planet they live on. I'd rather have my kids pick up on "going green" than on unhealthy female body images. I think the bigger issue to address is "because the tv said so." THAT'S where a conversation needs to happen. Kids can think carefully and critically if they're encouraged to/taught how.
